Tomorrow is Mother's Day, and I
know you have something up your sleeve for me; but let me take this opportunity to tell you what I TRULY want to celebrate tomorrow.
I want to kiss the top of your head and smell your hair because it reminds me of when you were a baby cuddled in my arms. You might be
taller than me now, and I can't reach your head without a step-ladder,
so please bend down when you hug me.
I want to see your smiling
face as you share your hopes and dreams with me--they are so much more
than I imagined possible, and if anyone can do it, you can!
This one is for fun! Tiny Tim, the
eccentric ukulele player famous for marrying Miss Vicki on the Johnny Carson
show, would not stand a chance at fame in today’s society because of his image—but
he is HILARIOUS! How he keeps a straight
face during his performance is beyond me!
How many interesting entertainers never make it to the spotlight because
of the “need” to be perfect. I love Tiny
Tim for just being himself!
An interesting fact: Miss Vicki is my mom’s second cousin!
McBride has such a powerful and strong voice; and many of her songs talk about
overcoming abusive relationships. “Blessed”
is a song about appreciating the joys in life, no matter how big or small. I remember playing this song for my daughters
when they were feeling blue, and it quickly became a family favorite.

Sorry I'm a day late with this post; but it's a good one, so I hope you can forgive me!
Sarah McLachlan has been one of my favorite musicians since I was in high school. "Ice Cream" is from her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy album. When the Girly-Qs were about 2 and 4 we were listening to this song in the car and I told them that I loved them more than ice cream. Quickly this turned into a game of one-upping each other with comments like "I love you more than cartoons!
I can't remember where I first heard Ashton Shepherd sing, but it was not on the mainstream radio. I had to hunt for her songs on iTunes and YouTube before she was signed to a label. I've always LOVED her voice and the simple yet soulful way she croons. Her accent is fun, too. "Sounds So Good" is my favorite of her songs.
One of the reasons I love this song is because it reminds me to find joy in my life regardless of where I am or what I am doing.
