daughter Alexandra was about 7 she got in trouble while I was at work for not
following directions. Her caregiver
locked her out of the house on the front porch and showed her pictures of
missing children and told her, “This is what’s going to happen to you if you
can’t behave in my house.” She begged to go home and the caregiver said, “OK,
start walking!” At the time I lived
about 20 minutes away by car. When the
caregiver walked into another room Francesca (who was 5 at the time) unlocked
the door and let Alexandra back in.
Hello Dear Readers,
Today I want to share Five For Fighting's song "Superman (It's Not Easy)" because they are performing at a benefit concert tonight atBaylor University's
Ferrell Center in Waco, TX. The concert is free, and it will benefit the residents of West, Texas as they deal with the aftermath of an explosion at a fertilizer plant from earlier in the week.
Baylor University is just a few miles south of West, and several alumni, faculty, and students live in West.

My daughter Alex had the opportunity to attend a track meet recently for 5th and 6th grade students in theSan Juan Unified School District.
What is meant to be an introduction to competitive track and field
events turned in to a demonstration of how compassionate, supportive,
and kind children can be to their peers.
of the children participating in the event ranged from moderately to
extremely athletic in their running abilities.
Hello Dear Readers!
Today is my best friend's 30th birthday, so I'm featuring her adopted theme song. Tracy is an amazing woman who loves her friends and family with all her heart and she has such compassion for others. I am blessed to have her and her family in my life! Brandon Heath's song "Give Me Your Eyes" is a perfect reminder for us to always see the people in our community instead of their status or clothes or belongings.
My favorite lines:
"All those people goin' somewhere;why have I never cared?
